Aim

Connecting electricity, gas and water meters in an industrial estate via existing copper and fibre-optic cables

Situation

In future, Ethernet modems and switches will be deployed for data transmission of all important measurement and control reports via existing copper and fibre-optic cables to connect up the industrial buildings and their meters. Since the industrial estate consists of new buildings, the fastest techniques to date are to be installed.

In connecting up the devices, the aim is to use a telecontrol system that guarantees communication channels without failures in compliance with current safety regulations and standards.

Solution

The task of combining copper and fibre into one network is guaranteed by the flexible ISD switches and SHDSL modems. Any SFP modules can be deployed for individual adaptation to the network and thus guarantee a wide range of applications. VDSL2 SFP modules that provide up to 300Mbit/s over 2-core copper over 800 m in length are also deployed.
